it's a call for: peace, prayers, magic

DSCF3353.JPG

i know i said i wasn't going to talk about my health on found object, but today is a big day. this very morning i am having surgery to remove a large tumor, a rare kind of breast cancer. if you aren't aware of what is going on, you can read about it here.

i am scared.

many of you regular readers are already on alert to send me good thoughts and i thank you for them. so i put this call out onto the wind for all the good energy, strength, prayers, magic meditations and healing spells all of you can direct towards me. i won't be posting here on found object for a few days while i recover, but i will do a quick update over on the turnip blog so you  can find out how things went.

i took this photo a few weeks ago at the international rose test garden here in portland, oregon. it makes me feel calmer just to look at it and right this moment i can use a bit more calm.

bread + butter update

 DSCF1960.JPG

i've had so many requests to purchase prints of my photos taken in greece last spring, so i am going to offer them in my bread + butter shop, here. i am slowly adding to the selection there. if you fell in love with a particular image, please email me and i would be more than happy to add it to the collection for sale. the red poppy field shown above in now in the shop!

thank-you for your patience lately. i have finally gotten a few re-worked vintage copper lockets into my etsy shop, bread + butter. there are six to choose from, but the photos are loading so painfully slowly that that site right now, so only two are posted so far. in addition to the six, i plan to have a few more ready for the week of december 4th. so stay tuned for more images and keep checking in at bread + butter for lots of great affordable holiday gifts!

sweet thank-you: 200 posts!

DSCF3474.JPG

just out of the oven and cooling before i carry them off to a thanksgiving dinner with friends. i love baking, especially pies. it is an art form, making flour and butter into a crust. many people dread making the crust, but that is my favorite part of the process. it requires confidence, a delicate touch and steely nerves. i like the challange and once i surrender to the process, it's very relaxing. i would bake pie often if it wasn't so hard to resist eating it all!

i want to thank you all for coming here to found object these last eleven months and sharing beauty, inspiration, dreams and reflections with me. this is my 200th post! i am struck by how wonderful blogging is and by how vast the world of creative people looking to connect really is.

amazing, simply amazing.

i hope wherever in the world you are today, you are warm and surrounded by ones you love. and i hope you know that this girl, baking pies and making jewelry in portland, oregon is very thankful for you indeed. i am blessed.

vintage lockets reborn

i simply forgot to show you these sweet vintage copper lockets i re-worked for the sale last weekend! i added the 'etching' on the front...each with a different floral theme and some affirmations inside. strung on black silk ribbon and finished with vintage copper clasps, they were a big hit. i'll be making a few more and adding them to the bread + butter collection, so look for them there.

and i just have to share this shot from my walk yesterday. a carpet of red leaves just makes my heart happy, everytime.

when it rains, it pours...

DSCF3463.JPG

pennies...from heaven...

it was a rainy start to a beautiful day on saturday, sale day. by the end of the day i was soaked. soaked with blessings, with abundance: my cup filled to overflowing with hugs, support, good wishes, and excited response to my jewelry. i met some simply lovely people and had such fun chatting with customers and friends alike.

sales were, in a word, marvelous!

what relief, what a blessing: it was just the boost i need right now. i was also so pleased with how my booth came together, again. it keeps evolving in such nice ways. the lighted stages are my newest brain-wave and i'm so proud of them. i used the moss growing on my porch steps to great effect in the display, which was a big hit with the shoppers.

studio olivine and quince, the hosts for the show, did such an amazing job. set up was easy and smooth. all the vendors were sweet, talented people with gorgeous stuff. the only struggle of the day, i tell you, was to not blow my windfall at the other booths! but i was a good girl, as i very pressing practical concerns to fiance these days.

i do hope to get into another show for december, so stay tuned. i've left it a bit (well, quite a bit) late but i thought until just last week that my studio building was going to host an open house in december. turns out, that will be in febuary!

i will be posting my earrings and necklaces up on bread + butter, my etsy shop all this week. so if you came to the sale and didn't seize the moment, you may still be able to get the piece you want online. the new belt buckles are already up in my twirl shop...just waiting for you.

thank-you, readers, for all your cheers of support as i've prepared for this show. i couldn't have done it without you.
