camilla taylor: telling stories

 pensive.jpg

"she was better prepared for misfortune". my favorite winter coat

artist camilla taylor uses found fabrics to create the bodies of her characters. they are deeply quirky and personal sculptures that she presents with a provocative tagline (see above) that points to a narrative. this collection will make you smile, cringe, sigh. it's some of the most original work i've come across in quite some time and the piece below has me looking at the hospital gown i don on a daily basis with new eyes. please do go here and look at them all. thanks to emily b for the link!

"prone to worry". hospital gown from when my neck was cut open

Oh, that coat. I moved to Phoenix, and didn't ever have a reason to wear it again. It was so big, with faux fur cuffs and hood, and perfect for winter in Salt Lake, but useless in the desert. Now I'm moving and I sort of wish I'd never cut it up.

Hey, Camilla! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Hopefully the new perfect coat will be waiting for you somewhere in your new town. Love your work and excited to see new things...
